Yesterday, Joy and David and I and two of Joy's friends went to see American Gladiators. I got home and made eggs with soup and then we climbed into Tim's convertible. We drove there and parked and then went into the LA Memorial Sports Arena. There are 13,000 seats, but only about 350 were filled. There was this woman in front of us had wirey hair and a tattoo about ladders on her neck. After Joy's "HURRICANE WARNING" poster became frayed and shreaded to bits, it eventually started rubbing all over Ladder's neck and she said soemthign to the affect of "oh no you didnt". Joy appologized. We were there for about 2 hours and only saw one f-ing gladiator, Toa. He mostly stood around and hugged women.

The two jousts: The guy on team RED went first. He was about 135 pounds of pure excitement. It took him forever to put on his helmet and protective equipment. Once he got it on, he and his pugile stick were pretty much flung into the water by Toa. Then there was a short interview, in which RED made it clear that even after losing 100 pounds, you can still float. BLUE was knocked off into the water in a similar fashion, but then TOA was passed a walkie talkie. There was some sort of reviewing of footage, officated by this guy. BLUE had to go dry off his shorts so that he would appear on camera as though he hadn't already been tossed into the water. Take two- BLUE clobbered Toa and TOA fell in. It was the opposite of what happened 30 minutes prior. We were confused but continued to applaud none the less.

So then they then started taping the begining of the show with Hulk and Laila talking about the new season. Inbetween takes, people would shout things like "WHERE'S BROOKE?" "ROAST BEEFS" and "YOU DONT NEED TO SUCK IT IN, GURL!" because Laila is pregnant, which the writers thought was interesting enough for Hulk to mention in the opening sequence. By the fifth take, we had seen enough so headed for the door. A security guard with a second part time job at The Sports Authority blocked us and told us we had to stay. We snuck under flesh stantion / arm.
We then went and ate and had drinks nearby.
