Piña and Jalapeño
Kate and I went into the underbelly of NYC to catch a train over to Aiyana's where I would be staying. We got "unflavored" frozen yogurt on the way. They also had Pina Colata, but who needs that stuff. We got to Aiyana's place and Reggie was there.
On Friday, I took a black cab into NJ for an interview at a childrenswear place. The interview went really well and Tracee told me my portfolio was good, so I was pretty okay with heading over to the job fair where I would talk to about 15-20 places looking for designers / production assistants. There were a few places that seemed decent but mostly they were horrible. I ran into an old friend who I didnt recognize at first. Also, Sears went home early so I couldn't beg them for a job. Towards the end I started joking around a lot with people and I think that didn't go over too well. I went over to Kate's and met her at a Starbucks. We took her Saturn LX up to Flushing Meadows and looked around the US OPEN. The security guard got a call on his phone so we snuck inn and saw about 4 points worth of the Women's doubles wheelchair 1/4-finals. The pace and technique was too slow compared to people who stand up when they play. After that we got some tickets to the MET'S game which was across the street. The guy made us hold the tickets while we considered buying them. His phone kept ringing and he told us how his kids kept calling. Probably because they were pissed their dad was selling their METS tickets. We got in and got a drink and watched the game.. it went from 0-3 to 6-3 pretty quick. Houston took a "beating" The crowd was wild and proved to be fun to stare at. A kid got hit in the head with a baseball and had to be hauled off in stretchers. It made the hair on my arms stand up on end. We had to leave early cause Kate had to "get home."
Saturday we went to a parade, to some galleries in Chelsea, and then to the beach around 10pm. It was so dark, it was hard to know where the top of the water was whilst swimming. We got White Castle on the way home. My jalapeno popppers were unfavorably replaced with an additional burger. At least my iced coffee was good.
I left on Sunday around 4 and this disaster of a woman sat next to me from Albany onwards. She was at some poly festival where you have tons of boyfriends and girlfriends in the woods. Her blanket smelled. At one point, she noticed I had cologne (same bottle as before) in my bag and asked if she could spray down her candy shaped pillow. She gave me a book and told me all about Iowa. She was mostly okay, except for the times when she would say something about me and then expect a reaction. Sometimes she would say things like "according to the build of your face.. b.a. blblbalblbaalblal " and then I would just sit there and then she'd say "Thoughs? " in a really upbeat way or "Opinion?" and I'd go, "nope". When we finally got to Chicago, she got up really quick to get her stuff and I stayed seated to let all the people leave before I did and she got all confused. I think she wanted to walk off the train together. I later saw her in the lobby of Union Station on the phone. I pretended not to see her. She was arranging her rendesvous with her Chicago girlfriend of 2 months before she headed back to Des Moines, where her 2 kids lived. Also, she was wearing her daughter's jean shorts.
I think i left my cell phone charger in NYC. I left for there on Wednesday and sat next to a Chinese for about 14 hours. We said NOTHING to each other, except when she motioned for me to throw my garbage in her trash bag. When i got off Amtrak @ PENN station, Kate was there. On the train I thought of a joke and debuted it for her. I pretended to round the corner while spraying on cologne and then
