Friday was a lot of walking around looking for material. I called ahead to "Fabric Africa" and they said they had muslin. I went there. What they meant by "we have muslin" was that they had a lump of white-ish fabric in the corner of their store on a stool that they were using as a cushion. It was stained and in three pieces. "How many yards do you want? You know we have beads, too right?" At least on the way home I won 100+ pounds at a kabob place off of Wellington. I bought cologne, deodorant, and an ironing board to celebrate. I eventually found some decent material in an alley over by a market far away. An old man in a plaid suit almost got ran over by a red van.
Saturday I went to the Barbican library but didn't have an proof of residency to check stuff out so i had to photocopy everything so I could finish my "report" this weekend. They have cd's you can rent for basically 1 dollar a week, loads of scores, and practice rooms. I've decided to start practicing three times a week so in a year i can say, "Dang!! I'm glad i practiced!" You know, when I end up on skid row with 2342934y92837$$$ in debt and need something to do at night. ie. play in a community orchestra. Skid Row Chamber Winds under the direction of Penelope R. Martinez. Does anybody have anything at measure 14?? Oboe player swats a fly and tuba player sneezes blood.
Saturday I also went to see "The Long Christmas Dinner" by Hindemith. It was really, really good. I can't remember the last good theatre/opera thing i've seen. When I got home I checked the mail.
Today is Sunday. I finished my muslin sample and wrote my "report." I forgot to mention I finished reading "A Million Little Pieces" for my Cultural Studies class. You know, where we had to basically do anything and review it. I decided to read a book because that is what I usually wouldn't do. Then last week we had a meeting with class and they "reminded" us that it had to be about London. So as I was turning the last page, "Don't read that!" So I wrote a 1000 worder on 3 Reich conerts I saw at the Barbican right when I got here in early October. The paper pretty much sucks but that is why tomorrow we have a class on how to research and write. That sort of information will be good to know. I'm not sure whether I'm joking.
Here are some pix of my pig sty.
