Yesterday, I woke up on the floor, went and called lawyers, biked 2.75 hours around Boulder, and then went to Denver to play with the community band. They practice in this amazing old church in the middle of downtown that the man at 7-11 was so nice enough to direct me to. We played a bunch of okay stuff, none of which was too miserable. For some reason the music from "The incredibles" was good. I've never seen the movie but it had the same playabilty as the Simpsons theme song which I played at Wesleyan and enjoyed. Everyone there was nice and friendly and I played the 2nd part, as there were about 20 clarinets, 3 or 4 of which were really good. I'm not playing this concert on Saturday, but will perform the ones after that. They're playing somebody's wedding reception, but I passed on that one. They're letting me play Eb at the last concert. This crazy woman with a pink shirt and puffy hair told me how to get home in the parking lot. She is also in the clarinet section and taps her toe really loudly when playing.
Today we got up, went to the bank, coffee place, gas station to get an innertube, and then went to Lyons to park the car. When we were filling up the tubes, the man who was filling up the gas pumps asked about our tubes. He was like 350 pounds and had a Swedish accent. We asked him where he was from and he said Denver. He asked us if that was our flatbed truck out front of the station. We looked over there, and it was an 18 wheelever with gigantic concrete fittings tied to it. We unfortunately said no. We then preceeded to ride our bikes like 5 miles up stream. We locked the bikes to a sign and then got in our inner tubes adn rode down the Saint Vrain River. Danielle got freaked out. She got out half way through and sat at the Church on the River. I went the rest of the way down by myself. It was like a crazy advertisement for Colorado. Everything was hyper-beautiful. I saw two people fishing and about 100 birds. It was way better than i expected. When we got back, Danielle's neighbor said we had the innertubes only filled up half way. Maybe next tim we'll go 2X as fast.
